Philly indie pop troupe Bleary Eyed share their new hypnotic gem, “Holy Hell” from their upcoming album Guise – out on August 15 via Juliaswar Records.
Originally formed in Washington DC by core members Ray Brown and Coby Haynes, Bleary Eyed ended up relocating to Philadelphia in 2016. The group has been embedded in the blossoming local DIY circuit, performing often while self-releasing two albums during last year’s lockdown.
Now, the group is set to return with their single, “Holy Hell.” A swath of colorful synths illuminate the shimmering nature of the track while off-kilter acoustic guitar patterns and lovely harmonies capture the dreamlike state that slowly hypnotizes the listener.
“‘Holy Hell’ is a pop song lyrically revolving around finding new friends and love in a time that can be specifically hard but pushing forward,” writes the band. “The outro of the track represents some of the repetitive feelings throughout the quarantine.”
An enticing collage of sounds weave together to form a track indebted to the summer sun rays and melting ice cream.
