On today’s episode of In Conversation, we welcome Rasmus Stolberg of the long-running Danish Indie Rock band Efterklang. Rasmus and I sat down just before the release of the band’s latest album Windflowers, which came out last October on City Slang Records.
Written and recorded during the height of the pandemic by the band’s core trio of Stolberg, Casper Clausen and Mads Christien Bauer, the album recalls the direct minimalism of their early records all while maintaining their ability to harness an ethereal sense of beauty. The album surrounds you with trance-like dance cuts that quietly expand showcasing the group at their most transfixing and controlled they have ever sounded on record.
In this conversation, we discuss the recording of Windflowers, the band’s fierce DIY ethic, their dedication to community building around Efterklang and so much more.
