On this episode of In Conversation, our guest is Micah Nelson who records music under the name Particle Kid. Last week Nelson released his most ambitious project yet, the sprawling epic double album Time Capsule.
The album is a psychedelic genre-hopping adventure that mixes elements of ‘60s acid-pop, country, and heavy rock. The album also features collaborations from artists like Jim James, Sean Ono Lennon, J. Mascis, Margo Price and his father Willie Nelson.
To match the scope of the music, Nelson also created a super limited edition time capsule made of hempcrete for fans to fill with their own memeories. It also includes a thumbdrive containing the album, unique artwork and videos, hempseeds cultivated by Nelson himself and a concert ticket to a Particle Kid show dated twenty years from now.
In this conversation, we discuss Nelson’s inspiration behind Time Capsule and this ambitious packaging, the massive influence of his father’s rebel spirit on his own creativity, discovering The Flaming Lips as a kid and how his current tour with them is a dream come true, and so much more.
