Albany’s Laveda have announced they’ve signed to PaperCup Music, and they’re planning on releasing their label debut in 2022.
Comprised of the songwriting bond shared between Ali Genevich and Jacob Brooks, the group are known for their shoegaze sound layered with a firm melodic pop sheen. Laveda released their debut album, What Happens After, in 2020 with plans for a major US tour that was tossed away by the pandemic.
In the wake of lockdown, the group emerged confident to return to their craft and Genevich has laid out her thoughts on their next project in a recent press statement.
“I think we’ve dived a little deeper into a 90s rock throwback sound. Jake and I have consumed so much music over the past year, both old and new,” says Genevich. “The overall sound of our first record was definitely inspired heavily by bands we saw live, but due to the pandemic we’ve sort of switched to just listening to way more recordings. We’ve been making demos in our home studio like crazy for the past few months. We’re really excited to be recording everything out in LA later this year.”
