When the first months of lockdown began musicians and venues were left scrambling to find new ways to connect with their audiences from afar. The advent of livestreaming over the past decade came at the most crucial time, allowing bands to recreate the energy of a live gig from the comfort of their own home. However these techniques were not always the best as artists would have to invest what little they could into production details as to not come off as just another Instagram live show that would become lost to the background. Others took the torch to produce well-rounded content that made you wish you could be witnessing their shows from your favorite sweat drenched space.
Brooklyn’s self-described “nuke wave” project Monograms had remained relatively quiet during this span of time till they were asked to participate in a livestream festival that local venue Our Wicked Lady began to curate in order to raise funds for their shuttered show space till the pandemic had eased. Frontman Ian Jacobs stepped up to the challenge while using his ten year plus experience in media production to craft a unique experience for fans. The result is an earnest adrenaline rushing performance from Jacobs and company with crisp audio that creates a sublime sense of nostalgia for shows long gone by.
We’re thrilled to premiere their enthralling live performance of “Still Vision” from their new LP Only A Ceiling Can Stay Inside Forever released this summer via PaperCup Music.
