Los Angeles duo No Swoon premiere their escapist new video “Spare The Time” from their sophomore LP Take Your Time.
Originally based in Brooklyn, the duo composed of Tasha Abbott and Zack Nestel-Patt relocated to Western Massachusetts in the midst of NYC’s lockdown in 2020. It’s in their isolated location where Abbott and Nestel-Patt laid the foundation of their new record. The album they’ve crafted works as a time capsule of fluid changes against a static background, with a line of self-acceptance and maturity buried deep within.
On their new video for “Spare The Time,” Abbott walks across a field alone in the woodlands of Western Massachusetts. The track’s lush dream pop soundscapes swell over the beauty of the morning sun shimmering above Abbott, a brief time of tranquility. Abbott however is assured in herself as her lyrics confront the worries that halt creativity and a beckoning call for a muse to reignite that spark of ambition.
“I go through a lot of writer’s block. This song is about those days where nothing comes out, where it’s hard to even want to try to write, or do anything really, but somewhere inside the urge to write and play is still there,” writes Abbot. “I feel it there, it just won’t come out, even though I really want it to. I’m talking to a ‘muse’ if you will, that I just want to come out and play and take over.”
No Swoon’s latest assures listeners that taking a pause for a moment is worth the time to reconnect with who you truly are.
